Regiment raised in Essex

28th 1643
Captain William Waldenwrites to request
clothes and arms for his company.
Aug
31st 1643
The Commitee at Cambridge complain
to the Deputy Lieutenants of Essex about lack of clothing
and arms for the regiment.
Sept
9th 1643
Manchester writes to the Deputy Lieutenants
to send; "Drummers, colours, halberds, partizans,and clothes
for the soldiers of both regiments".
Sept
16th 1643
Manchester takes Kings Lyn.
Oct
2nd 1643
2100 coats 'of green cloth lined red' ordered
in addition to the 200 already made at Cambridge.
Oct
11th 1643
Eastern Association move to besiege
Bolinbroke Castle, and fight the Battle Of Winceby.
Parliament Victory.
April
24th 1644
Major Holmes issued with
green coats lined red.
April
26th 1644
Lieutenant Colonel Clifton's
Company issued with 141 red coats lined green.
May
3rd 1644
Siege of Lincoln.
May 7th 1644
Lincoln surrenders to Manchester.
May
8th 1644
Eastern Association marches out
of Lincoln to support the Scottish Army under the
Earl of Leven and the Northern Association who
were besieging the northern Royalists in York.
June
3rd 1644
Eastern Association reaches York.
June
30th 1644
Eastern Association falls back from
York with Parliamentary allies to intercept
Royalist relief under Prince Rupert.
July
1st 1644
Prince Rupert enters York.\f2

2nd 1644
Battle of Marston Moor.
Manchester commands his regiment personally
for most of the fighting. The Regiment stay on
the field for the entire battle. Parliament victory.
July
4th 1644
Eastern Association return to
beseige York.
July
16th 1644
Royalist garrison allowed to
leave York.
Aug
12th 1644
Major Holmes issued with
red coats lined green.
Oct
18th 1644
Manchester's Army joins forces with
the Western Association at Basingstoke. Along with the
remnants of Essex's Army, they are ordered by
Parliament to defeat the Royalist Army.
Oct
27th 1644
Second Battle of Newbury.
Royalist Army escapes. Manchester blamed.
Nov
22nd 1644
Captain Meredith's Company
described as 'red coats lined green'.
March
18th 1645
Regiment ordered to
assist Sir William Brereton.
March
25th 1645
Regiment disbanded.
