Men and women
Spectacles were available in the century. For health and safety reasons
glasses are
permitted for re-enactment but obvious modern frames should be replaced
by more
appropriate styles or reproduction century frames. Sunglasses are not
acceptable.
Jewellery
Only wealthy people could afford jewellery other than perhaps a plain
gold ring.
If in doubt, do not wear it. Body piercings should be taped over or removed
for both safety and authenticity.
Make
up
20th century make up is not acceptable. Crowd-line characters
Crowd-line entertainers are expected to have researched their chosen role,
using primary sources and dress appropriately priest, peddler, beggar,
prostitute, etc.
They may be asked to support their appearance with appropriate references.
Living History
Whilst the Living History Group will set its own dress standards,
Sealed Knot visitors to the Living History site should either wear modern
clothes
or conform to at least the standards set out above.
